    College Advertising Manager

    W. W. Norton’s College Advertising Department is hiring an Advertising Manager to maintain the department’s production of assets. There will also be opportunities to do hands-on advertising work on print and web assets. This position will have exposure to marketing, editorial, sales, and outside vendors. Candidates should be highly organized, assertive, and a team player. This position reports directly to the Director of Advertising and Website Strategy.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Manage and maintain the entire production schedule—print and digital

    •Budget and invoice tracking

    •Logistics coordination between the Ad Department, mail house, printer, and other vendors for swag

    •Copywriting and maintenance of style guide

    •Project management for digital assets such as showcase sites, book detail pages and interactive pieces (video, etc.) including outside vendor deliverables and relationships

    •Project management for digital catalog creation

    •Digital catalog coding as needed (HTML and CSS)

    •Scriptwriting for all video and interactive pieces

    •Project management for print ads (asset gathering, permissions, page proofing, coordination with book teams)—a shared responsibility during busy season

    •Review draft ad copy with book teams and Director of Advertising to suggest edits

    •Copywriting for all print ads, book detail pages, and showcase sites

    Required Qualifications:

    •Bachelor’s degree

    • 2 years of relevant work experience

    Designer, Integrated Marketing

    Reporting to the Director of Marketing, W. W. Norton’s Trade Department seeks a Designer (web and print) with 2+ years’ experience to create innovative digital content to support marketing efforts across social media, web, and email platforms. The ideal candidate will work closely with the marketing team to translate ideas into creative and informative visual designs that promote our books and authors.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Create engaging social media content including infographics, gifs, original illustrations, stop motion video and animated gif-based content.

    • Conceptualize and produce online and print advertising.

    • Design and manage the production of promotional items: fliers, totes, pins, stickers, t-shirts, store displays, posters, and postcards.

    • Under supervision, work on the launch of book landing and promotional pages and subsequent updates including planning, design, and development.

    • Support consumer email marketing efforts through the design, HTML production, testing, and deployment of campaigns.

    • Assist with basic web management including content posting, promotional banners, and day-to-day site maintenance of web properties.

    • Keep current with trends and best practices in social media, web development, email marketing, advertising, and mobile strategies. Recommend compelling strategies to increase engagement and acquisition.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Minimum two years of experience in the digital marketing and design space.

    Marketing Manager, K-12 Education/Mental Health/Self-Help

    Norton Professional Books, a division of W. W. Norton focusing on K-12 education and mental health books for both professionals and general readers, seeks a Marketing Manager with 3+ years’ experience in education and/or mental health and self-help publishing. Expanding the division's presence in the K-12 education field and managing initiatives aimed at mental health clinicians, academics, and relevant lay audiences are the main objectives of this position. This job reports to the Marketing Director and works closely with acquisitions editors, authors, and affiliated organizations.     Essential Job Responsibilities:

    • Developing and maintaining sales relationships with K-12 school administrators, teachers, and In-Service/Professional Development trainers and organizations

    • Creating and managing online and print promotional campaigns and advertisements (determining format, writing copy, working with designers and vendors, list management, etc.) for both education and mental health titles

    • Social media, including the creation of in-house promotional content (videos, infographics, etc.), and e-mail marketing strategy

    • Marketing budget management and planning

    Required Qualifications:

    Trade Marketing Assistant

    W. W. Norton & Company is seeking a full-time marketing assistant to join our trade marketing department. Candidates should have a high level of curiosity and eagerness to learn more about the marketing and book industry while handling general administrative tasks for the department.

    Essential Job Responsibilities:

    •Coordinating website features, including identifying titles for promotion, writing copy, and working with the design team.

    • Play a supporting role in our social media outreach, including executing plans, posting, running giveaways, and contributing creative ideas and liaising with our global offices.

    • Coordinate mailings, including writing accompanying letters.

    • Create and write copy for marketing materials such as sell sheets, flyers, postcards, bookmarks, etc.

    • Process and track orders for galleys, cover art, etc.

    • Assist with the planning of promotional materials at annual trade shows.

    • Write and edit monthly consumer and sales e-newsletters.

    • Provide general administrative assistance which could include: maintaining book metadata, pulling lists, maintaining marketing, databases, photocopying, scanning, filing, scheduling meetings; taking minutes at meetings; expense reporting, etc.
